Louisville approves ambitious riverfront redevelopment along the Ohio

LOUISVILLE — City leaders this week approved a sweeping redevelopment plan for a long-neglected stretch of the Ohio River waterfront, clearing the way for new housing, parks and commercial space.
Backers say the project could bring thousands of jobs to the area over the next decade, while neighborhood groups pressed for guarantees on affordable housing.
Construction on the first phase is expected to begin next year, pending final approval of the financing package.
