Local journalism is not a luxury — it is civic infrastructure

Across Kentucky, newsrooms have thinned and county papers have gone dark. Each closure is quiet, but the consequences are loud: school boards meet without scrutiny, budgets pass without explanation, and rumor fills the space where reporting used to be.

That is why The Kentucky Daily exists — to gather the work of the Commonwealth's remaining newsrooms in one place and to add our own voice when it matters.

Supporting local journalism is not nostalgia. It is an investment in self-government. A community that can read about itself is a community that can hold itself accountable.
